About our site
The entrance to the site is approximately 18 foot wide and so allows easy access. The grass on site is cut regularly and picked up so that it is kept as tidy as possible.
Reinforcement mesh has been installed under the grass so that vehicles can move more easily across to the far paddock.
In and around the site
There is a wealth of wildlife to be discovered in and around the caravan site. Not only are there an amazing number of bird species, the hedgerows, fields and woods are home to a fantastic diversity of flowers, grasses, sedges, mosses and fungi. Red Deer have been seen in the area, but the Roe Deer are more common. Stoats and the much smaller weasels have been
spotted as they hunt for their food. Among the insects there is a very rare beetle. The Blue Ground Beetle was discovered in 2002 by a Forest Ranger who was giving a guided tour of the woods. More about the blue ground beetle in the wildlife section.
Today a Ranger conducts a number of activities from the Forest Holidays Deerpark Cabins. Details of these activities can be found on their website.
The caravan site is very close to Forest Holidays site at Deerpark, in fact we share the same post code.
The Forest Cabins are in the wooded valley on the site of an old gunpowder mill situated below Deerpark Forest Caravan site. Some of the cabins are set around the large millpond and others are nestled into the side of the wooded valley.
